A Little about My Life

The last picture I like of myself (before I got pregnant!) with Peter, my son

I’m constantly trying recipes, maybe 3-4 a day, in what sometimes feels like a small-scale test kitchen. I’ve had some great successes and disappointments from both simple and exotic ingredients. At dinners and parties, I frequently talk about what’s coming from my kitchen lately, and thought I’d share with my friends and family who are interested.

Most of my cooking I do for my family, which is now a family of seven, although I love to entertain as well. I also have an incredible intolerance for monotony in food–hence the constant sampling of recipes. I think it’s great fun to build up a good supply of great recipes–something for every occasion–I hope others will enjoy these recipes too!

After living in Rhode Island for several years, I now live in Utah, close to the place I was raised, and I open my front door to one of the most beautiful canyons I can imagine. I teach about the humanities at a local university, take my kids to lots of music lessons, try and keep the house in working order, and I am working on my gardening skills, at least from April to October. I also love traveling with my husband, and have a special love for France, Portugal, London, and Brazil (especially EATING in Rio. The best!) I generally think life is a miracle and love to get up and see what every day holds for me and my family.

Some of my favorite people and favorite moments!

There’s lots of other things I don’t find time to do . . . I just always manage to have time to make something sweet . . . it’s a curse. and a blessing.

Natalie: I just tried the wedding cookies that Rex brought to the department today. Oh my goodness!!! They are the best that I have had since my mother used to make them. Could you get me the recipe?

I also love to cook and try new recipes. I noticed you also have a lot of bread recipes on your site, and I would love to get better at making bread and rolls. I look forward to looking through your posts and hope to learn from them.

So fun to look at your site as well! Bread making is addictive, and I’m sure you’ll love it. Let me know if you have any questions!
